The LOP is Kansas bound

This Web site is a work in progress, so I haven’t yet set up the heading to explain the meaning behind LOP. So, I offer this to you in the interim: quite simply, I am the Laid-Off Peripatetic. Initially, I was going to name the site the Unemployed Peripatetic, but Michele (the girl portion of The Happy Couple) thought it made me sound sloth-like. I concurred. That and the acronym UP just didn’t have the same pizazz. And I like pizazz.

Anyway, I’m leaving to visit my parents on their farm in Kansas; and that is my first official trip as the LOP. I won’t be able to post any blogs while I’m there (I’m leaving tomorrow…May 17…and won’t be back until Wednesday, May 20) because my parents have neither a computer or Internet connection. My Dad thinks computers are ridiculous, and I think my Mom just can’t be bothered.

Regardless, I’ll have ample fodder and photos to share when I return. There’s always at least one story that makes my city-folk friends shake their heads and wonder how it is that I’m a cornfed, farm girl.

And by the way, there is going to be much more to this Web site once I actually sit down and do it. I’ll have more info about me, how I came to be the LOP, friends, a sponsorhip/donation page and the charity to which I’ll be donating a percentage of those proceeds. But right now, my list of errands is mocking me, taunting me and basically making me crazy. So, off I go to master said list and of course, buy some fabulous noise-canceling headphones – I hear they are all the rage for traveling.

Peace out.
