Let the severance begin
My official last day of work is today (May 15), but I left Wednesday. It was a covert departure, unceremonious by design. I just wanted to be free because that’s who I am…a free bird. Caw! Caw! Besides, I have an ungodly amount of crap that I have to do before I leave on walkabout. My permanent departure from Chicago is May 27—a one-way ticket to Frankfurt where I’ll start my European naughty-bad-fun adventure. I should probably mention that if and when I come back from Europe, I’m flying not back to Chicago, but to LA where I’ll relocate. And why not? It’s not like I have a job to keep me here…hahahaha. It is in the land of fake tits, overpriced cocktails and botox that I will be reunited with The Happy Couple. (If you choose to follow my blog you’ll become very familiar with certain characters that I’m fortunate to call friends.)
I’m ever so excited, but saying goodbye to all of my Chicago friends has sucked in the grandest way. But they love me (at least that’s what they tell me when we’re all inebbriated) and are quite happy for me. To say I’m lucky is a phenomenal understatement…
Yesterday was a final goodbye to a lady with whom I worked for eight years. SEG has been a co-worker, a cohort, a mom, guidance counselor and mom; so yeah, that hidy-ho was a tough one. Also, I imagine I would have been fired years ago had she not been my voice of reason before I lambasted a few people who deserved it. Really deserved it. (The verbal junk-punch can be so gratifying.) She taught me diplomacy (kind of, I know how, I just typically don’t apply it). And I taught her to sling expletives like a trucker. I knew my work was done the day she was venting to me about a particular idiot and called said individual “an asshole motherfucker.” Go SEG, go.
So, tonight I’m having cocktails with my gay boys (Bob and Da-Veed). Tonight’s bonding is not a goodbye, but spending as much time with them as possible before my time runs out (that sounds so wonderfully ominous…oooooowwweeeeeooooo) and I leave Chi-town, sweet Chi-town.
So, yeah, this is my blog. I hope you will join me on walkabout…and by the way, I have to give Deutsch-man (he’s the boy portion of The Happy Couple) huge huge huge thanks for his amazing technical savvy. If it weren’t for him, I’d still be hitting my computer with a hammer to stop it from making funny noises.

Oh my, I am already missing you, like I have said many of times you are a precious and rare lady. I am honored to have worked with you! You are truly a voice of reason and someone that I look up to!

Sounds exciting. My first son was born in Frankfurt. I lived in Hanau about 15 miles from Frankfurt for two years, Berlin two years and Nurnbery for four years. I love Germany.
